Fakir Kaave Automatic Greek Turkish Coffee Machine Review

The Fakir Kaave is a pretty basic coffee machine. It’ll do all the things you absolutely need, but don’t expect any bells or whistles with this model. 

Still, it does have a couple cool features that make the brewing experience that much more convenient and fun. And when it comes to brewing, this machine makes one hell of a cuppa. 

Capacity

The capacity of this machine comes in at a decent 1 liter. Granted, that’s far from the highest we’ve ever seen, but it still manages to give you around 4 full cups of coffee on a single brew. 

That’s actually pretty decent capacity, and in line with what other coffee machines at this price point offer.  

Design

Fakir’s design language is something that is both retro and modern. The whole machine sports a squared off design, with the coffee pot slotting into its own little cubby. 

The dimensions aren’t massive, nor are they petite. Suffice it to say, this coffee machine will fit on just about any kitchen counter or in a cabinet if you need to store it. 

The version we tested came in a subtle combo of brown and flat black. The whole thing is made of high quality plastic, and it’s BPA free so you don’t have to worry about getting that weird taste in your coffee. 

Controls

The controls are laid out in an easily-understood, intuitive layout. There aren’t very many settings or customizable features to begin with, so it makes sense that the control panel would be pretty basic.

But credit where credit is due, this machine has integrated LED lights that give you important info like when the machine is running or when it’s completed the brew cycle. 

Brewing

Speaking of brewing, the Fakir coffee machine makes one mean cup of coffee. The flavor extraction, while nothing to write home about, is really good for a machine at this price point. 

We got a smooth, grit-free texture with each brew cycle, and the foam was perfectly frothy. If you’re a seasoned coffee enthusiast, then the coffee this machine spits out might feel just ok for you. 

However, if you’re the type of person who only occasionally dabbles in coffee and wants a machine that can make a perfectly good to great cup of coffee, this is the machine for you. 

And one huge advantage of this coffee machine is that it offers one of the quickest brewing cycles we’ve tested. In fact, it can have a steaming pot of coffee ready for you in as little as 1.5 minutes. 

Price

Like we’ve alluded to, the Fakir coffee machine doesn’t cost nearly as much as some others that offer similar performance and brewing capabilities. 

That said, it’s far from a budget-friendly coffee machine. Really, it slots in somewhere in the middle of the range, with just the slightest bias towards the pricey side. 

Customer Support

Fakir offers a 2-year warranty with this coffee machine. This covers any manufacturing defects, so you can rest easy knowing that any unexpected eventualities can be dealt with easily. 

Additional Features

Like we said at the beginning, this is a pretty basic coffee machine. However, it isn’t completely devoid of some cool features. 

For one, it comes with audio and visual alerts for various functions. It has an overflow protection system that intelligently stops the brewing to prevent the pot from getting filled up to the brim and spilling. 

An auto-turnoff feature works as you’d expect and makes this little machine surprisingly power-efficient. 

On second thought, maybe this machine isn’t as basic as we made it out to be, because it’s still not done with the features! 

A boil-dry protection feature prevents the machine from running if there is no water present, which lets you avoid any heat damage. 

There’s an integrated water level window that lets you check if you need to top up the tank at a glance. 

And finally, this coffee machine also has a cup-warming surface that ensures your coffee stays nice and crisp even if you leave it for a while. 

Amazon Rating

Amazon seems to have a soft spot for this machine though. It gets 4.4 stars out of 5, based on 90 ratings. Buyers rave about the ease of use and simple ‘no frills’ operation of this coffee machine. 

As an aside, many reviews also make mention of how good this coffee machine is at making mochas. 

Editor’s Conclusion

Overall, we think the Fakir is a pretty good coffee machine for the price. It is well built and has ample capacity, the interface is simple and easy to understand, and the compact size makes it great for smaller kitchens and spaces.
